Lettie’s Birth Story

On Monday, February 17th at 10:34am, we welcomed our sweet baby girl into this world! She weighed 7lbs and 3oz and was 20 inches long.

My whole pregnancy, I prayed for a safe delivery, however that may be! And a healthy, good baby who sleeps good! And God answered all my prayers!

In the beginning, I was a nervous wreck thinking about HOW I would deliver. With Kobe, I had to have an emergency c-section, so they recommended a repeat c-section. I really did want to try to labor on my own and deliver naturally for many reasons, but the main one being not having a 6 week down time from holding Kobe AND being afraid Micah would have to go back to work after two weeks.

But let me tell you, God works everything out. My body apparently doesn’t know what to do to have a baby, so I delivered via c-section. Micah was able to take six whole weeks off work to be with us. And my recovery was easy-breezy and I was holding and rocking Kobe by week three.

This being a planned c-section was so much easier than Kobe’s delivery!!! We dropped Kobe off at my parents house around 7:00am, checked into the hospital around 8:00am, and was in pre-op by 8:30am. Mom, dad, and Kobe got to come in and see me around 10:00am, and they were taking me back to O.R. shortly after that! Lettie was born at 10:34am!

Unlike with Kobe (he had to go straight to the NICU and I didn’t get to hold him), as soon as she was checked out, I got to hold her while they were finishing up with my incision. And she got to come with me into recovery and stayed with us the whole time, which was an answered prayer.

I couldn’t have asked for better care than Huntsville Hospital! As soon as I was able to get up out of the bed, I was asking my sweet tech if I could walk around my room and I’m pretty sure I made her very nervous! But I am not a sit still type of girl so I was ready to be up!

We had a low key hospital stay with just Kobe, my mom, dad, and sister coming to visit and that was such a good decision. We were able to rest (as much as you can in the hospital) and soak up that new baby time! The day we came home, everyone came over and brought dinner and got to meet her.

Kobe lived his best life with GraGra and Pops while we were in the hospital! He came to see his sissy every day, except for the day we came home because they stayed home and played in the snow! He has been absolutely smitten with her and is going to be the best big brother.
